...I am pushing this back up, to be able to readily recheck the CCSF possibility details.

...I want to talk about this idea held by a percentage here that I may only try to go to. first-step college, cc, if I have no help whatsoever from anyone else in fillimg out the forms and sending them in, Om says that I must apply with no guidance whatsoever, simply find out 100 percent on my own with absolutely no help from anyone else, I must know already who to send it to and what to say and, I must, with this low-end smartphone 100 percent of all the tech I own and in danger of breaking or being stolen againand I just do not know what I would do then, I must do it all on that, and I must not ever ever ever ask for assistance in registration or in getting a physical introduction or idea even as a crippled, for it would compromise my rugged individualism to do so I guess.
People 17 or 27 may do do, but not I. :(
THERE IS NO WAY IN THE f*****g WORLD  I could get into college doing this. Why do you demand this of me? Do you want me to die homeless? Perhaps that's what you want. Uni is the only possible step up out of HL status that I can see.

I wouldn't and have never applied for a college on a phone. I "applied" for community college in person. I put the word "applied" in parenthesis because it isn't applying so much as just signing up. I went to the campus, went to the administration office, went up to the front desk and said I would like to sign up for classes. I was handed a form, told to fill it out, and then directed around the corner to see the college counselor. The counselor asked me what I wanted to study, if I had ever taken certain classes before, and if I had a disability that I would need accommodations for. The counselor devices a course plan telling me which courses I should sign up for, and informed me that I should stop by the disabled students office and register with them for accommodations. The counselor also informed me that I qualified for a fee waiver and gave me the paper work for that, which I filled out.

I went back to the front desk, filled out a sheet of classes I wanted to sign up for, and then handed the person at the front desk the documents. I was then officially enrolled.

I then went to the disabled students office, told them I was a new student, and inquired about accommodations. I was told I would have to provide documentation of my disability. I told them I didn't have anything recent on hand and they set up an appointment for an evaluation by one of their specialist.

When I decided to take a class at a community college at a later time, when online applications and enrollment were becoming the norm, I followed the instructions on their website....though I imagine one could still do this in person the old fashioned way. If I wanted to do it online though, and did not have a computer of my own, I would use a computer at a library.

The process is different for a university because you actually have to apply, submit transcripts, write essays, and give them a reason to accept you, but that's a ways off for you and I wouldn't worry about it right now.

I'm not proposing you do this on your own if you are so confident that you can't, but I don't know of anyone on here who is in your area. I have a family member who assists disabled individuals with tasks such as shopping, paying bills, arranging doctors appointments and the likes. I imagine this would include enrolling in community college. Do you qualify for any assistance like that?

...Thank you. However, you too give the impression, rather, you feel " You could get in all by yourself, with no help whatsoever, if you'd just try ". No, that is not so.
Is this rooted in a " You are so unlovable and unattractive, no one will ever help you so you'd better get used to it " analysis?
How does a person in my position apply to all of these offices? How about the financial grants I would have to apply for? I'm crippled, I'm homeless and look it, I have been spat on by the College-Industrial Complex before when I tried to apply - Generally alone - Om's dream - too, I would certainly need, of I got on, a really large infusion of tech and knowledge to reasonably have a chance to do well, I feel confident in imaging that even a homeless 18 yr old would-be CCSF student likely has more tech stuff now, and certainly more knowledge of how to use it than I do (I've begged for help here improving my tech knowledge to no avail :( .), I may be an okay writer of personal board comment posts but that's deceiving.
People AS younger than me tend toward the ' Accommodation Generation, they had help through much of their lives but I'm not allowed to? I sometimes think " If only I'd been born when people would've been a little nicer to me " and I cry. I remember a post-WWII anti-polio cartoon showing a crippled kid look in at healthy kids playing in the distance and going " I wish I'd had my Salk shots ", even if I shouldn't compare myself to that.
Having said this, I'll go to bed and see if I can cry in bed some although I'm in a shelter with no privacy and can't make noise:-(.

Stop referring to me in your posts, I don't give a crap whether you go or not, alone or with help. Do whatever you're going to do, I have nothing to do with it. You talk and talk about the same things and nothing ever changes with you.

...I was talking about your commands/whatever and what I felt was wrong with them. Now all of a sudden you don't care? You certainly cared before whether I (in your concept) improperly asked for help.As long as that's it done, you don't seem concerned whether I go.But now I'm supposed to be enrolled within two weeks' time or I am useless? Deep-seated things don't change overnight, and IF I CAN GET SOME MORE HELP, something may happen,
I received some help here earlier. The mighty Om offered me help? Where? Your whole concept is how I must not ask for help.
I'll refer to you as *m from now on, asterisk in the bowl - Would that be OK then?

Actually I had no idea what to do when I first applied. I merely walked into the administration office and told them I wanted to become a student and sign up for classes and I was walked through the process. I had no foreknowledge of it. It was like walking up to the counter at McDonald's and telling them I wanted to order a hamburger.

If I were in your position and did not feel I could navigate my way through the website, I would get on a bus and go down to the college in person and do exactly what I did when I first signed up for community college. I would walk into the administration office and tell them I would like to sign up for classes. Due to your situation, I might also tell them that I am disabled and need assistance with the process and see where I am directed from there.

I did not need to apply for financial aid for community college because I received a fee waiver for tuition and was able to afford books on my own. However the college probably has a financial aid office where they assist students in obtaining financial aid.

When I did transfer to a university and had to apply for financial aid, my sister directed me to the FAFSA website and I applied through there. When I was accepted to a university I was given additional aid by the university without doing anything. The only thing I had to do was accept it.

Your age and the fact that you are homeless has no bearings on whether or not you get disability accommodations at the college. Some teenagers and young adults have the assistance of their parents, and that can certainly help, and some do not and are in the same situation as you as far as figuring out how to navigate the higher education maze. A good number of young college students are also homeless. I'm pointing this out because I think you have a misconception that everyone else is at some type of situational advantage to you. My impression of you is that it's not your age or homeless status that is the problem, but that you have difficulty navigating new and complex appearing environments. For that reason, I have attempted to lay out how to enroll in college step by step.

If I were in your position, I would plan on going down to the college on Monday, walking into the administration office, going to the enrollment desk and when it's my turn, I would tell them "I would like to enroll for classes but I have autism and need someone to walk me through the process." and see what happens. Sometimes the disabled students office also helps disabled students with enrollment, so you can ask there to, but I would start with the administration building.

I don't want to kill your dreams or anything but maybe you should work on securing a better living situation before worrying about college. I mean where are you going to keep your college books and supplies? considering all your stuff regularly gets stolen/thrown out at that homeless shelter you're staying at...those are expensive. Also what are you going for? If you don't get a job in the field you study or it doesn't work out and you drop out you'll just have tons of debt built up.

Maybe you should consider a technical school or something...college is kind of pointless unless you really have a specific goal you will use a degree to achieve.

Most colleges have lockers that can be rented.

You might consider investing in something like a money belt that goes around your abdomen under your shirt to keep your valuables close to you when you are resting.

...I am feeling upbeat right now and don't want - yet - to get into somewhat downbeat/" pity me " subjects so I won't at this time say what I had planned here.
I will say that, as far as the component of college, especially the full-fledged uni part, that relates to Something That Will Get You A Job (SWGJ), as one's internal " mammy "/censor might put it... 8O - I do have ideas in that corner in mind . I DO !
A friend of mine kinda recommended " menial desk work " , meaning I guess?? some sort of office-type thing that doesn't pay much but - Let's remember, I am at, even right now, about the age where people, especially?? in desk-clerical-type employment, start thinking about if not actually doing already retirement (Hi there, KK). I do have " practicality " also in mind as well. I DO! :-l

...Yeah. and you're obviously counting it down already  :)
Did my using the abbreviation for your moniker get your ears pricked up  8) ?
Y'know, as far as SWGJ, since you've come in, I'll add this now...I have thought this.
If I am ever (God willing) non-homeless - Bluntly, ex-junkies tend to work for heroin agencies and dried-out drunks tend to work for alchoholism agencies - Perhaps, therefore, some sort of working at an AS and/or HL agency would be something (With whatever " bad boy " X-tra bohemian/outlaw cred my lil' bit of county/misdemeanor time may give me??) - If I've been a bit typecast by life - :-| - for a " day gig " anyway.
Until my fabulous graphic novel concepts get sold to Hollywood  ?
With my learning film ambitions, perhaps messing around with such an agency's Web site/visuals, not nessecarily any sort of counselor/in the field - If you're wondering about my commitment to " other people ".
One does have to have have SOME amount of credentials/" paper " for such as that, though.
