NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- Judge declares mistrial in Bill Cosby's sexual assault case after jury says it's hopelessly deadlocked .

Not surprising, can't imagine they'll bring it back to trial with as old as Cosby is but there is a lot of accusers.

Quote:
NORRISTOWN, Pa — The jury in Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trial here declared itself still hopelessly deadlocked on Saturday and Judge Steven O'Neill declared a mistrial.

O'Neill polled each of the 12 jurors whether they believe “there is a hopeless deadlock, which cannot be resolved by further deliberations?” Each juror stood and answered yes.

Cosby lead defense attorney Brian McMonagle then motioned for a mistrial, which O’Neill promptly granted.

District Attorney Kevin Steele told the judge he intends to retry the case. He told reporters at a press conference later that accuser Andrea Constand is "entitled to a verdict." He said he was disappointed by the mistrial, reiterated that he had no doubts about the state's case and that the trial was important for victims of sexual assault.

O'Neill released Cosby on the same conditions of his $1 million bond posted in December 2015.

actually, it seems they do intend to do a retrial

If this was just some nameless black man accused of drugging and raping women, he'd be found guilty. But too many people think Cosby is the guy he played on The Cosby Show.

This is not at all surprising. Many are already comparing Cosby's case to the OJ Simpson trial.

It's probably confidential but I'm curious to the background of the dissenting jurors? As with the OJ Simpson case I suspect support for Dr Cosby may be falling over racial lines

I do not in even the slightest way defend or excuse any wrong-doing, but I do admit it is difficult for me to perceive Cosby as less than a great entertainer even though I will now likely never again listen to any of my past favorites from him.

Yep, I'm with ya, on this..... I have several books, videos, and DVDs of his, that I am DETERMINED to remember to gather-up and chuck, one of these days.

I get that you should be allowed to have a night life, without anything creepy happening to you, but these are also situations which would be impossible for excessively-modest people.

When you work in schools, churches, and those too-big-to-fail box stores, you are generally never even supposed to schedule a man and a woman, alone, together, so that there is not even a possibility of sexual liable. That doesn't even approach the stuff about getting drunk and alone, in a private house.

For the ultra-conservatives, lurking, race is a still a contentious issue.

Yes, you should be able to do that, without fear of violation.

No, these are not purists, protecting their modesty.

I've never believed Bill Cosby was a rapist and I never will.

He admitted he gave her drugs and yet he still does not get convicted. Apparently she was so messed up from the rape she went back to him multiple times. It seems that, that was enough to convince one or more jurors that she wanted it. What a shame. The prosecutors intend to retry him again. I hope but doubt they will succeed.

Just my two cents. I have discussed this a little with my HFA significant other who, I believe, lets his bitterness about social rejection over the years cloud his judgment. He thinks that the women that have accused him are probably lying and willingly were with him, if anything, for the money and fame aspect.

Me personally, I believe he's probably guilty as sin. And I think this because of an offhand conversation I had with a coworker somewhere between 04 and 10. I just remember I was working at a particular place with this woman which is the only reason for the time bookmarks. Anyway, she said she went to a small show he did at a local casino once and how she overheard him talking to someone about all the white trash in the audience. It didn't stop me from still enjoying his comedy, but I do think he probably saw white women as nothing more than white trash to be used and discarded. Thus, my belief that he probably is guilty because this woman had absolutely no reason to lie, no guile behind her statement.

Not wanting to be the race police on WP but keep in mind 1 in 6 of the 58 women making allegations against Cosby are black. In he circles he was moving in he was predominantly exposed to white women associated with the entertainment business. More correct to say his choice of victim was based on whatever he could get his hands on

I am sorry and meant nothing racist by it. To be honest, I haven't done much research into who the victims were. I only know snippets on them that I heard basically at the very beginning of the scandal, and at that time it seemed an overwhelming majority if not all at the time were white.
