I'm indifferent but I'm indifferent to most holidays

I like fireworks. If the celebrations get jingoistic, I lose interest.

I like the city's fireworks show at the marina.

not really. the fireworks and other local explosions are hard on my sensory sensitivities and i can't wear earplugs constantly for a whole week or more.

a few years ago my neighbor's place was shot up on the 3rd of July late at night (or technically, the 4th of July very early in the morning) and i heard the shots but in a sleepy daze figured it was just regular independence day fooling around with explosives. that was basically my official ear witness report /:

so now with each blast i also get paranoid. this is a time of lots of panicked looks out of windows.

i've tried to learn how to differentiate between the noise of a gunshot and the noise of festive explosives but haven't yet been able to trust my ears. too many factors. too much doubt.

It's my mom's birthday! I like it , but I don't like the noise and flashing of the fireworks, I always avoid those. We usually get the family together for a cookout and I always make pasta salad and dessert :)

I celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. This year the country is turning 150 so there's a lot of hype going on, even though some provinces like Newfoundland are technically younger.

Except for maybe the fireworks display the local public celebrations aren't all that great IMO. The heat, the crowds, the noise, ugh. :( I wonder my parent have any plans, like inviting me over for a nice dinner? :)

My aunt's birthday is also on July 1st.

This. My neighbor has been "celebrating" for almost a week now, so I've already lost interest.

i like the fireworks, and i fondly remember the occasion on the last 4th of july, that involved several fun things... including watching the fireworks with the missus on her room. it was neato. (her new house by comparison is very, very low...)

i don't care for the actual birthday, or the jingoism. but it's fun.
