Why do people complain?
they want sympathy, empathy, advice, or pity.
they want to feel admired, for putting up with everything they had to put up with.
they want attention.
maybe complaining makes them feel better.
some precious lil "people" are so full of themselves that they have the nerve to publically announce every thought and emotion going through their little heads.
I appreciate your comment, because it helps me to understand other people's perception of 'complainers'. I'm just not certain your perception of 'what we want' is actually true.
When I complain about something, it's usually for one of the following reasons:
- I think a situation is morally and ethically wrong, and needs to be changed
- I'm confused, need help, and I'm reaching out for answers
- I have such intense bad feelings, they have to come out somehow. Expressing my problems verbally, and seeking help from others in a rational sort of way, is healthier than many other options (for example suicide).
I think there are cases where complaining is justified. And to be fair,
complaining about complainers is a bit hypocritical.
