We can get lost when there is too much unclear information. We need to get to the point. Say what we need to say in as few words as possible without taking out the details. Otherwise, our listeners and readers may jump to conclusions.

Take this for example:

Talker: "I heard there's an earthquake, and it is in Africa.

Listener: "We need to leave this state immediately."

Talker: "I meant in Africa not the United States."

Said better,

Talker: "On the news, there's an earthquake in Africa."

Listener: "Must be terrible in Africa."

Well, people like to do clever little things when they talk to show how clever they are and how clever they expect you to be or think you are genuinely.
