I posted about this on a forum and several people thought I was kidding.

I'm not the kind of person to tell scripted jokes out of a book (boring), but I do like to tell humorous stories from my own personal experience, such as stories about things my pets do.

That's about the polar opposite of me; I have trouble not thinking of a joke all the time. Humor isn't always about telling jokes though. Have you ever made any clever or witty statements or observations? Those can also be just as humorous as any normal joke is.

Aaron is right. That is the brand of humor I prefer, too. One of my favorite tennis players, Denis Istomin, is known for his dry sense of humor. That is one of the many reasons I like him.

Back in the Eighties I would get on stage on open mic night at comedy clubs, and do comedy routines that garnered respectable quantities of laughs.

So no.

I've made remarks people thought were witty on a few occasions.

The only way to not tell a joke is to not tell a joke. Is it just that you've never told anyone a joke, or is it that you haven't thought of one before? I would suggest first getting in tune with your own sense of humor, and after that it should open up many new possibilities.

The only reason I would ever "tell a joke" is because I feel I have to "conform."

I'm not inclined to "conform," so I don't "tell jokes." I just try to be witty in general.

People frequently say that I am funny "without meaning to be." I'm okay with that--as long as people laugh with me.

Many jokes of the "three men walked into a bar variety" aren't funny, anyway.

I don't tell classical jokes, and frankly, I don't know many people who do (most people my age despise jokes). Maybe it's a region/language thing? There are other things people laugh about: Funny pictures, youtube videos, movies, inside jokes (that's my favorite kind actually), memes, humorous stories.

The last time I heard people make jokes must have been elementary school.

I think I'm quite funny and I also mean to be :P

Edit: By joke you mean the thing where you say: Three people walk into a bar, one American, one German, one Frenchman, right?

For the most part, yes.

Ok, then I can safely say: We don't do that in Germany. At least younger people who live in bigger cites :D

Long jokes with punch lines bore me. I don't make such jokes.

I just don't care for that type of humor.

I think this sort of joke had its place in the old days---but, like you said, these jokes might have outlived their purpose.

I've never thought of a joke before and never told one.
