Will there be lots of empty big boxes around in the future?

Will people be driving around in the future and seeing lots of empty big boxes where stores used to be?

I'm sure a lot of them will be converted into other uses, such as warehouses. A lot of places could use them for low income housing, but lots of places want those people to live elsewhere.

For someone living in a wheelchair, having everything you need on one big flat floor would make life a whole lot easier than it typically is these days.

My town centre is full of empty former shops and bars, etc.

It's depressing to see, what was once thriving become almost a dead zone.

Internet shopping and out-of-town shopping centres are probably to blame.

Gary, Indiana is in a terrible mess, but that is because the steel industry, which the city grew from, moved abroad. There's practically nothing left there.

^ same here.
It's like a business shuts down at least once a week.
Certain business areas are like a ghost town.
Unemployment and homelessness are through the roof.
Why don't they convert the unused stores into homeless shelters?
Of course, that'll never happen.

I hope that doesn't happen to my city in the future. I'm afraid it will, though. I like the idea of turning those empty spaces into low income housing.
