Does it annoy you when people aren't able to use the word "stuff"? People referring to everything as their s**t?

I doubt they are unable, they just chose the word s**t instead, I commonly use s**t rather than stuff and don't mind when other people do.

Why refer to stuff as though it's a bunch of feces/excrement? Disgusting.

I think it's crude and disgusting.

don't really mind when other people do it.

i guess they use "s**t" in place of "stuff" to emphasize their anger when it's said. and in my experience, people who use that word in that situation are more often than not, at least a little bit irate.

the more obscene choice of vocabulary being more fitting for their current mood than the tame "stuff".

so it's probably not a question of ability.

Or because they're generally pretty vulgar. I know I am - I'm almost completely unable to censor myself. Then again, my parents may have had something to do with it, since they'd both spit out the occasional F-bomb, even when I was a kid.

I heard some really nasty cursing from patrons at the library. Every second word was either the F-bomb or sh*t.

I don't mind. It's anyone else's choice.

'Stuff' is fine. I prefer saying 'crap' than 's**t'.

Well obviously people don't actually think their stuff is feces....I suppose if that is the picture you get in your head I could see it being annoying.

IDK about that, I have heard people say it just casually not necessarily out of anger or anything...but like 'hey let me grab my sh*t before we go.' Of course people may use it in situations they are frustrated or angry but not always, I certainly am usually not angry if I reference stuff of mine as sh*t....unless the item bothers me so I say it is a piece of sh*t.

I don't know anyone who does that except my stepdad.

I don't really mind it, but I don't think it's necessary. Especially if you're not angry.

I don't like it when people refer to my stuff as "s**t," though. It seems degrading.

Unless I misinterpreted the question, yes, since both of my parents are Finnish by birth.

This is why in the UK we have the excellent word "sh*te"... it's just so much more descriptive. The Irish use it a lot and it sounds better when pronounced with an Irish accent, like "shoite".

I think it's really nasty and gross. Especially if they say something like "for lunch today we had burgers and s**t". Nice literal mental image of your meal conjured up in my mind right now. :eew:

I also hate it when people say "are you s**tting me?" instead of "are you kidding me?". Oh, you being so clever and edgy with your words (sarcasm)

It's hard to believe there once was a time just using the word "ain't" would make everyone you around gasp in horror. Now people are swearing in everyday conversation and turned every word or phrase into something sexual. The English language has gotten just so full of... shaving cream.

I'm not offended by the word, or by swearing, BUT -

IMO, if you refer to your personal property as "sh*t" that implies to me that you don't value your property very highly. And if your own property means as little to you as a pile of feces, then I certainly don't want you handling anything of mine.

I worked hard for my "stuff," it's important to me, and I don't want you treating it like sh*t.
