I want to socialise more. Yet I also want to be alone. I have to motivate myself to get out more. The trouble is I lack spontaneity and initiative. Maybe there's some sort of group or club I could join but I don't even know where to begin.

Google.

Look up what's on in your area. Look at local colleges and public building timetables.

There are meet up websites now for people wanting to socialise. Even Tinder has a social tab now.

Research research research.

Ok. I'll Google.

I've read stories about people who turned their lives around after 30 and I want to be like them.

Someone suggested I join the Rotary Club. What do they even do?

Just a suggestion but you could volunteer for a worthwhile local charity and just do a few hours here or there , it would probably be a good place to meet people who have a caring nature who are likely to overlook any social quirks you have ( not saying you have any )

Good idea.

I think part of my problem is that I need to break from my routine.

I need to regain my childhood spontaneity.

I'm listening to the How to Stop ying and Start living audio book. It suggests I give myself occupational therapy and fill every waking moment with toil and activity. Sounds like a good thought but the trouble is I'm worried if I do that I'll exhaust myself.

Baby steps. Don't do too much too soon , set yourself time limits until you know what you can and can't cope with. It's very easy to get carried away in the moment and pay for it later because you did too much.

I would recommend picking an interest and finding local people or clubs with the same interest. Find peers or former classmates to meet with. At almost twenty I made friends. I met two in a mental hospital and the other is a former classmate I have known since the fourth grade. I have been attending local fishkeeping meetings.

Achhh, so frustrating!

I had a successful date on Saturday but on Sunday I did nothing!

My weekend is half wasted. All I did was stay at home and walk for a few hours. I wasted a whole Sunday! :x
