Boston Holocaust Memorial vandalized again, 1 arrested

Quote:
he Holocaust Memorial in Boston has been vandalized again, Boston police say.

Police say a 17-year-old male from Malden is in custody for vandalizing the Holocaust Memorial Monday evening.

A witness tells Boston 25 News someone threw a rock at the memorial, shattering the glass. Police say the teen was detained by two bystanders until officers arrived. He will be charged with willful and malicious destruction of property. The Boston Police Department Civil Rights Unit is investigating to determine if additional charges are pending.

It was just over a month and a half ago when the memorial was vandalized. A 21-year-old from Roxbury was arrested and charged for that destruction.

I know this is unfair victim blaming, but in today's climate, any public symbol needs to be made unbreakable.

I wonder which of the following is accurate:

Quote:
The suspect, a 17-year-old Malden resident who police say hurled a rock through one of the memorial’s six glass towers shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, said only “okay, okay,” when the bystanders caught up with him, MacDonald said.

Quote:
The suspect was detained by two bystanders until police arrived at the scene. Witnesses said they heard the suspect ranting incoherently.

I know exactly how the right is going to respond to this.

"Destroying monuments to authoritarianism is just as bad as destroying monuments to the victims of authoritarianism!"
