Anthony is cancer. Yes, he makes highlight reel plays, but he also holds onto the ball way too long which interrupts the entire flow of the offense around him. It's the same criticism he faced under George Karl here in Denver, and if you'll notice it was the same criticism Phil Jackson levied at him in NY. It's an issue that will never change. Add in that he's a spectator on defense more often than not, he rarely looks for open teammates even when double teamed and his actual play has never really risen to the level of hype around him (which in all honesty is fan hype from the highlights, not hype from coaches or GM's). All that said, his teammates tend to like him and he does provide instant offense if you want to slow the game down and do iso/post-up. But in all honesty, if the guy's giving up 10-14 points a game on uncontested shots and missing 10-14 on easy assists, those 25-30 points a game are more like 15-20 with his actual impact. I do however wish you guys the best of luck in OKC, the western conference is stacked so the games this side of the Mississippi should be entertaining.

On a side note, Dwayne Wade signed with the Cavs today which should help the team stay elite while Thomas recovers from his hip injury and he'll add depth when Thomas gets back. The Cavs should coast to the eastern conference finals again. They're still more solid than the Celtics even with the addition of Irving and Hayward, but if they meet in the playoffs I believe that series is more of a toss-up than it was last year, although I still think the Cavs will win. Obviously the season hasn't been played yet and things can change, but that's my prognosis right now based on the play from last year.

I think OKC will be fine, maybe a less talented more perimeter oriented version of the 2015-16 Thunder. As for Carmelo, I think this will be a defining season for him. He can distribute the ball, although he hasn't at an appreciated rate, and be a decent defender and should be if he's playing Power Forward at least... If he fails to be selfless in his role this year then I think the criticism of him will be justified. My concern for me would be him being efficient, he'll probably take more shots than PG because of his play style compared to George, of whom might have more of a conscious with the ball in his hand than Westbrook and Melo, making him the second option

As for Wade, man even as a Heat fan I am happy for him. A lot of people have concerns about their defensive issues but he's certainly a quality pick-up. Wade and Rose for under 5 Mil is a certified steal. I think IT/Wade starting could be fine, Rose/JR could also be fine but due to spacing and defensive issues, Rose/Wade should never start. Since IT is to miss significant time to start the season and Dwyane wants to start, I would start him at point guard right next to JR at shooting guard. With Lebron in the line-up, shouldn't be too many issues with ball movement

Offense wasn't great first half and overall but I didn't hate the defense...

nba statistic freak here! i'm more of an oldschool guy, my guitarroom still has Shawn Kemp posters on it, Shaq... ;D

i think wherever lebron will go, that's where the power shift will be.
If he goes to Houston, LA, they might even beat the warriors.
Untill then, i don't think, barring an injury to steph or KD, they can be beat.
I hate them furiously as a die hard Wolves fan (anybody still remember KG, Cassell and Spree? miss those days...), but man...they are good.
Also think Philly is the team to beat, with the celtics. Again, still nobody beating any Bron team as well 8 consecutive finals appearances will prove about right.

love this thread!
