I played Call of Duty out of curiosity and every single game just seems like the same thing. I got so bored I didn't beat any of them.

I feel like some people think "you aren't a real gamer because you don't play Call of Duty and Battlefield."

They just have so many FPS cliches that you quickly realize you aren't missing anything and could be playing something better. I tried one once (I may have played one once before with my younger brother and cousin for the heck of it) and it reminded me why I grew out of the genre: Mechanical stock characters, uninspired plots, bleak music, sterile visuals, and stuff blowing up randomly like in modern action movies.

For some reason, they think that's all there is to gaming. I guess it's entertwined with our nation's macho culture and gender expectations.

I would love to have a barcade in my home town! Especially if it had old games like Pac-Man and Asteroids!!

But I live in a backwater country where the arcades only have late 90s crap and redemption games (and no bar).

I've never encountered this sort of thing.

I love old arcade, computer, and console games! :D I like the old pixel look to them, it feels nice.

Same! All of my siblings are way older than me, so I grew up in a household with an SNES and a bunch of games on floppy disks. One of my favorites was the Quest for Glory series because it was both an adventure and hilarious satire of medieval-style RPGs that were so popular back then.

Fun fact: Quest for Glory IV not only was the first ever voice acting role of Jennifer Hale, but it also had the official Disney voice actress for Minnie Mouse in it.

There's probably one within a few miles of you.
