Yeah, isn't playing the "woman" argument over staying itself? Especially as there are tons of laws for women that men don't have any laws specifically to them at all? Oh yeah, there are the double standards and even outright, direct "man-shaming" that came into play over the past 50+/- years. I try to take this viewpoint with a grain of salt, but there are entire forums and sites dedicated to men complaining about the way they feel treated in the modern time (modern dating is a popular one, and I have personal anecdotal feelings that may validate that they have a point). This is something that the government probably can't/shouldn't try to account for, because it's a social factor. But, hey. The mass media, government, and maybe also popular entertainment work with each other to socially manipulate people. What do you think will happen if we all wanted to rise up and revolutionize our culture like we many times did in the past, how will the elite respond?
Laws to promote equality might only work if either groups had equivalent protections. Men's laws have to catch up. I know it's not exactly like pure individualism, but it's probably one of the only practical ways we can restore the balance of footing in society. So if you are going to create real laws affirming equality, don't make it about "minorities vs. majorities". Today, with the elite/government's focus exclusively on "minority" groups, they have almost forgotten that non-minorities exist.
