I hope that you realize that most folks living in Tashkent are NOT ethnic Russians, but are Uzbeks. Uzbekistan is to Russia what Kenya is to Britain (a former colonial subject).

I read a book about Marco Polo when I was in the forth grade(had a bit of an aspie obsession with his exploration). So I actually know about places in Central Asia like Samarkand, and Tashkent, and knew that "Bactria" was a place ( the place where two humped camels originated from hence their name). Stuff most Americans don't know about.

But if it makes Istomin Fan feel better...the "Denisovian Man" was indirectly named after a guy named "Denis" (like the Russian tennis player). The Denisovian woman's teeth were found in a cave in Kazahkistan known as "Denis's cave" because it was the abode of a locally famous Russian hermit named Denis who lived in the cave in the 1800's.
