A lot of struggling times not knowing who I was and why or how much I was different

Watergate,Watergate,Watergate

Good rock music and bad pop music and fashion.

That born 5 or 10 years too late feeling. We got the hangover without experiencing the high or drunk feeling that caused it.

My uncle's patterned shirts and bell bottoms. I swear he was wearing them into the nineties.

It depends whether it's early or late 70s. Two very different times.

Early 70's: Bellbottoms, tie-dye, hard, acid, and singer-songwriter type rock, hippies, Hare Krishnas, etc.

Late 70's: Bellbottoms---but the nature of them was different, leisure suits, singles' bars, materialistic disco culture, Arena Rock, the advent of the "me" generation of the 1980s, punk rock, New Wave, The Son of Sam murders, etc.

Well, Kraftie, I suspect you were a bit closer to where things were happening than my family was. Remember when there was a time lag in fashion between different areas?

Yep....there certainly was.

In the rural parts of the United States, the "early 70's" didn't start until the mid-late 70's. I've seen videos of dance shows from the late 1960s. In the Midwest, people still looked like they were living in the 1950's; whereas people on Bandstand (which was in Los Angeles) looked "hipper."

Did you grow up in a rural part of Sweden during the late 1970s?

Odd hairstyles with moustaches and long sideburns.

Bright colours.

Bright suits in a range of hues for more formal menswear, but bright skimpy satiny shorts for the beach. Bright bikinis for the ladies.

Smoking indoors - you could hardly see through the wafting smoke in some places...

Even in the 2010's, people still smoke indoors in at least some restaurants in the UK

That was more 80s then 70s. But it did start in 1978, so it is late 70s.

The TV 70s shows I think of are M*A*S*H and All in the Family. Also I think of music verity shows and cop shows, which made up a large part of the TV schedule.
