Climbing trees, throwing bricks at imagined enemies, making enemies who held imaginary grievances against me and my buddies, sleeping over at people's houses who I didn't even know much about except a few lines yet would die for them if the need arose, seeing a teacher in a shop and being astonished that they would dare exist beyond the walls of the education factory, autumn leaves are recurrent and mean more than my own sense of cyclic time, milk deliveries are not done by robots but real humans with needs and feelings, squinting in sunlight and outgrowing the night light only to replace it with feeling sorry for the moon.

When my whole world got turned upside-down----or, "started anew", really, I should say----as that is when I began to get all my diagnoses (late 90s).

Boy Bands, and being puzzled over other girls squealing over New Kids On The Block.

Gaming console wars: Nintendo-Sony-Sega-Panasonic-Atari.

Sonic the Hedgehog! :D

Never-ending and pointless arguing over which consoles, games, and characters were better.

The Dark Age of Comic Books

South Park

Really stupid, gross, and offensive video game commercials. There was the one of Yoshi's Story where a guy stuffs himself until he graphically blows a la Monty Python (which they soon censored), Earthworm Jim showing an old lady stuffing her mouth and eating wriggling live worms, the obnoxious ads for the Atari Jaguar where they lied about it being 64-bit, and it's really not a good idea to insult the people you want to sell your product to. And those were just the ads on TV. The ones in magazines were also really bad. And often very sexist. :x

Every ad by Sega brutally made fun of Nintendo, especially the Game Gear vs. Game Boy ones because GG had COLOR. One had had a kid playing a GB and then he picks up a dead squirrel and whacks himself over the head, making him hallucinate colors. And that annoying SEGA! shout they always had at the end.

Game Boy outliving ever other console made in that time.

Sega becoming a third-party company after their new consoles all flopped.

Being frustrated and annoyed by the assumption that all gamers were male. And really stupid and immature with their brain cells killed. And this was in ads trying to sell video games, as I've mentioned.

And if you were female, it only mattered if the games you played were rated M and full of blood and gore.

Really lame, cheesy and heavy-handed environmental-themed cartoons and video games like Captain Planet and Awesome Possum, respectively.
