IDK----hopefully, we'll hear something tomorrow, for sure.....

Oh, NBC just reported: "Tom Petty hospitalized".....

Phew----what a HORRIBLE thing for the media to erroneously report!! They did the same thing to Abe Vigoda (he's now passed, though).

Tom Petty was one of my favorite musicians. There's quite a few of his songs I've listened to countless times.

He was one of my favorite musicians. His song "Won't back down" was a theme song of mine for quite a few years when I was dealing with bullies growing up. Sad to think that yet another member of The Traveling Wilburys is gone.

I remember his halftime performance in Super Bowl 42. It was terrific.

Very sad. So many of his wonderful songs were part of the soundtrack of my life, from my teens on up to now.

RIP Tom, thanks for the music.

i find him pretty okay as a musician. Other people I've known have liked him quite a bit.

66 is too young of an age to die.

I have nothing against the guy. I hope he didn't suffer when he died.

I don't believe most people deserve to suffer when they are about to die. They deserve to be in bliss instead.

What a heart breaker. He will be sadly missed. Thank you for the music.

Not a big fan of Tom, but he put out a really good album in 2014, Hypnotic Eye, that I really enjoyed.

The first 5 tracks especially:

1. "American Dream Plan B" 3:00
2. "Fault Lines" 4:28
3. "Red River" 3:59
4. "Full Grown Boy" 3:26
5. "All You Can Carry" 4:34

The other ones after that I don't care for.

Was hoping to see him Live, but I guess not now.

Tom Petty's Cause of Death: Accidental Overdose

Quote:
After months of speculation, a medical examiner has ruled that Tom Petty died of an accidental overdose, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The Hall of Fame musician had taken several pain medications, including Fentanyl, oxycodone and generic Xanax. Other medications included generic Restoril (a sleep aid) and generic Celexa (which treats depression).

The coroner's office listed Petty's official cause of death as "multisystem organ failure due to resuscitated cardiopulmonary arrest due to mixed drug toxicity," noting the singer suffered from coronary artery atherosclerosis and emphysema.

Petty had been prescribed the drugs to treat emphysema, knee issues and a fractured hip, his family said in a statement accompanying the results. Petty's coronary artery disease had been a persistent problem throughout his final tour.

"Despite this painful injury, he insisted on keeping his commitment to his fans and he toured for 53 dates with a fractured hip and, as he did, it worsened to a more serious injury," Petty's wife Dana and daughter Adria wrote in the statement. "On the day he died, he was informed his hip had graduated to a full-on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his overuse of medication."
