Hallo! :D This may sound like a little to late to ask, and you some of you probably already know my interests by now, but is there anybody here who has an interest in history?

Thanks,

Yes, love it, particularly the War of the Roses, the War of Three Kingdoms, the Napoleonic Wars, the Crimean War, everything Medieval, and early 20thcentry Europe. But I like all of it really :D

I really enjoy watching History documentaries but hated and enjoyed learning about the Romans, Vikings and stuff like that in school but chose history as one of my subjects for my GCSE's and hated it, it was all about treaties needless to say I got a U.

It's because people who don't like history say it's boring and irrelevant, so they try to make it relevant which ruins it for the people who like history. When we did the Romans at school we did an invitation to a party from one Roman child to another, seriously, a ruthless enemy devastating its way across a land that will never be the same again, ah yes, children's party invitations.

Yes, and I just started reading one of Barbara Tuchman's books on Sino-American relations from early 20th century to just after WWII. Finally getting around to modern US history.
Anybody else here fascinated by the history of ideas?
There's tons on tech and industrial history, but apart from the phenomenologists and other philosophical essays I haven't found a lot.

By the way, when I say history, it doesn't have to be just history, it can be any category of history, like music history, financial history, military history, cultural history, etc.

I prefer the world had stopped completely in 1989 -- how does that work out?

That means you liked being nine better than thirty seven. :) The solution is to behave like a nine year old now.

I love history as well, especially war history. My favorite time period is the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. I own a record player and I love early country, Rockabilly, and Doo-wop. I especially like Hank Williams Sr., Buddy Holly, Elvis, Marty Robbins, and the Beach Boys. I am a bit of a greaser too.

I like to read about history occasionally, but am hardly an expert at any of it.
