For years, people have told me I sigh way too much, that it makes them think I'm sad or something like that when I'm not. It occurred to me today that that might be a form of stimming.

How about other people? Do you sigh a lot? Do you think it's stimming when you do?

I did. Really a lot.
My husband said it was annoying for him, so I employed my self-control and stopped...
I have too much self-control :(

If this is another type of stimming then I guess I can add this to my huge collection because I do sigh many times every single day without fail. Just another form of stress relief I guess for us Aspies? Who knows. But I do do this a lot.

Yes. Loads and loads of sighing.
I think it's a stim. I do it when something is making me nervous. Like when I'm writing emails, or sitting on a bus.
My boyfriend recently started commenting on me holding back things I wanted to say to him.
"So what were you going to say?"
"How did you know I was going to say something?"
"You sighed that way you do whenever you're about to say something uncomfortable."
There's no getting out now!

Sometimes it happens just because I forgot to breathe for a bit.
