Rat Study Using Nanotechnology and Cannabinoids = Relief for Chronic Nerve Pain

Researchers from the University of Seville have patented a pain relief approach that uses nanotechnology to deliver a cannabinoids-based formula to relieve chronic neuropathic pain.

Investigators say a scheduled release of the cannabinoid provided neuropathic pain relief in rats for a period of eleven days after the oral administration of a single dose.

Pretty interesting. Take two hot research topics -- nano and cannabino, and voila, paliative care extended. Makes me curious though, why not figure out other compounds that the nanoparticles can deliver as well?

Not just paliative but curative as well. Burn victims have intense neuropathic pain issues as an example. Is there no chance for helping the body do its own thing with these nanoparticles so that burns that were once thought untreatable are now at least manageable?

For instance, have the nanoparticles deliver a matrix of substances shown to be effective in healing tissues. Hell, mix in some custom stem cells while you are at it. Do your rat models and see what shakes out.
