Hey everyone!! ! Just something I'm super excited about that I thought the WP community would be interested in.

So around 6 years ago Alex Plank, Jack Robison and I were contacted by Tectonic Theater project because they were interviewing autistic people for a play about autism they were writing. The writers (a somewhat spectrummy couple with spectrumite kids) interviewed a TON of autistic people over the years, and used all the stories to create 4 characters who all represent very different "types" of autistic people--one is a math nerd furry who falls in love with a geeky girl and has to navigate courting her when he does weird stuff like eat with his hands, one is a non-speaking teenager who likes to stim with uncooked rice and she's super snarky despite not speaking, one is an anime/gaming nerd who is verbal but really really struggles with speech and interaction who has to deal with her weird sensory processing when she starts to fall for a neurotypical jock she's trying to tutor, and one is a non-speaking young adult who can't communicate with his parents, is super imaginative, and the whole family is starting to chafe at him still living at home as he grows older (the last one, Moose, is played by an autistic actor).

I got to see it obv, and by now I've seen it 4 times. I honestly can't recommend this play more. It's AMAZING. It's so so refreshing to see autistic stories represented...accurately, I guess is the best term. They did a wonderful job.

If ANYONE lives in the NYC area and wants to see the play, you can get tickets here: https://sheencenter.org/shows/uncommonsense/

They really want as many people in the autism community as possible to see it and offer feedback. If you're struggling financially, they have a discount code: SENSE55

Also, if you really wanna see the play but can't afford tickets PLEASE email me ([email protected]) and I can try to help figure something out!

(PS) the resource guide for autistic guests with the illustrated character guide, digital tour, etc, is here: https://sheencenter.org/resources/
