House Judiciary chairman announces retirement

Quote:
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) said Thursday that he will not seek reelection, becoming the latest in a string of GOP lawmaker retirements.

Goodlatte, 65, is the third term-limited House committee chairman to announce his plans to leave the chamber within the past week.

Republican candidates, especially in swing districts figure they are screwed no matter what they do. Go anti-Trump and they will be primaried and threatened. Or they can stick with a President with a 37% approval and lose in the general. Ed Gillespie tried to have it both ways and that did not work. Congressional Republicans have a record of paralysis. The legislation they want to pass is unpopular.

Logic says Democrats cannot possibly blow this. But many of us have a sneaking suspicion they will somehow find a way.

I don't know which is worse- the general ineptitude of your typical democrat, or the outright sociopathic evil of the typical GOP pol?

and the worst thing is their insufferable optimism. :| when I heard dems say Hillary was a shoe-in I kept wishing they'd shut the phuqing hell up, she was more like a shoo-in and they couldn't see the writing on the wall or out maneuver the skullduggery of the dark side.

The liberals expected the conservatives to lose with honor and grace, not connive and cheat.

Good of an explanation as any.

it seems to me at this point, that the connivers and cheaters and system gamers have, above all, superior theory of mind, that is how they outthink the rest of us. but that won't get them into heaven.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Trump winning was the worst thing that could happen for the G.O.P.
Hillary winning would have been the best thing that could have happened for the G.O.P. because then they could have fun scapegoating her.
