How to handle my friend's sister?
Hi:
every year, I go over to a friend's house for Thanksgiving and my friend has four siblings. I get along with 3 out of the 4 siblings while I cannot stand her youngest sister. Why? She seems to have a pretentious attitude about herself that just rubs me the wrong way.
Examples-
A. Her parents have a cat who can get overstimulated easily who I have no problem with as he loves attention and affection. Last year, I was downstairs getting ready to let him sit on my lap when she goes:
"I can't believe you like him. He's mean!" I really ticked me off being that she owns a dog who is unpredictable around other people and animals. Why it's so bad that she is afraid to move into an apartment with this dog.
B. Every time I am around, she seems like she is mad that I am there and tends to distance herself.
C. She seems to walk around thinking she knows it all
How do I handle being around her without popping off at her? So far, I have been looking at comebacks for rude people.
Posted this on another thread but I think it applies to your situation, too.
And yes, this video does contain silliness ... that's the whole point!
There are some good YouTube channels on this.
I particularly like and highly recommend Sacha Slone.
She deals with these nasty folks with a sense of humor
and her head held high.
She's said on at least one of her videos that she thinks she's autistic, too.
So yeah, she's quirky
... best to let you know up front!
