I'm confused. Is this based on the old Sega Mastersystem game of the same name?

It's supposed to be but the vibe this movie has been giving doesn't make it feel anything like those games. I loved the Rampage games as a kid but from the trailers I've seen for the movie....are really not fulfilling that childhood nostalgia. The movie lore doesn't even match with the game's lore for the most part. In the games, most if not all the monsters from the games were humans. These humans have been mutated into these monsters from failed experimentation and drinking scum soda, not some random animals that find some alien object that fell from the sky (http://rampage.wikia.com/wiki/Monsters). Like...what happened to the dreams as a kid of wanting to turn into a giant monster, where you can eat people and smash buildings? :( And although I do like a drama based movie, the games themselves were more quirky and humorous which makes the movie really un-relateble to the actual games.

This may end up being a good movie, but I doubt I'd ever call it a Rampage movie because it's nothing like it. It's just looking like another run of the mill giant monster flick.

On another note, Icky from Rampage: Total Destruction is my favorite monster from that series~ <3
