unfortunately he may have other medical issues that would render it moot.

Wasn't there a major league baseball player who received a liver transplant even though he had other serious illness? Has the "policy" - assuming there is one - changed? Let me see what I can Google...

Edit in - yep. Mickey Mantle. Liver cancer, turned out to be metastatic.
