Just why is she not able to get herself out of the water? Surely if she can get the baby out of the water she should be able to get herself out of the water. Also why are the tigers going after the baby? Shouldn't they be attacking the father? He's the one who wiped out their pack.

She was exhausted.
Predators will go after the most defenseless prey.
Tigers usually single out newborn or injured prey, for example.
It uses less energy.

Also, the water was probably icy cold, and the body and brain will start to shut down from hypothermia.

I've never watched any of the Ice Age movies and don't plan to watch them anytime soon, so I don't really care.
