If I have a busy day such as going shopping or a full day at uni or seeing friends/family, the first thing I tend to do when I get home is have a nap :D Does anyone else do this? Sometimes I get overtired and overwhelmed after a really busy day and it can lead to a bit of a meltdown if I can't sleep

Taking naps is a daily thing for me. When I get home after work the first thing I do is take a nap. I usually nap for about 1hr 30mins, and it doesn't generally affect my night sleep.

They say you should only nap for 20-30 minutes, but I find that isn't enough for me. If I sleep for less than 50mins I wake up all groggy and grouchy, but if I sleep for one and a half hours I tend to wake up feeling refreshed.

During times when my schedule gets extremely busy and stressful, I tend to take more naps because I become so exhausted. During College, I set all my classes in the morning so I could work or rest in the evenings as needed. Once or twice a week, I would lay down somewhere between 12:00 and 2:00 and just sleep for three hours on top of the usual nights sleep (which I made sure was at least eight hours, although I usually felt most rested with 10). This summer, working as a camp counselor, I slept whenever I could, which included napping through large portions of my breaks as well as crawling into bed as soon as I could after we got the campers into their own beds.

I also tend to become more prone to meltdowns if I don't get enough sleep.

It’s cool to see people relate to this so much :) My naps are always around 1 hour 30 mins as well and don’t usually affect my night-time sleeping either! I think maybe the world tires us out more than it does more neurotypical, less sensitive people

90 minutes is about the minimum for a full REM cycle. I can seldom sleep more than four hours at a time, so life is a series of naps more than a scheduled event for me.

I do take naps after a busy outing as well. Sometimes I can't fall asleep though.

I always feel tired during the day (late morning/early afternoon), so I take naps.

I refuse to take naps at all because I'm scared I won't sleep well at night if I do.

I take a nap if necessary when I get home in the evening. Yes, 90 minutes is a good time to get a full REM cycle.

I wish I could nap properly. I wake up totally disoriented or feeling feverish after though, so I try not do it unless I'm really exhausted.

Yes, love my naps, I don't always fall asleep, but to get away from the noise of my kids, TV or games etc, to lay down and have quiet time, helps me not get cranky. It's bad when my husband comes in to use his computer or my kids disrupt me and I don't get time off. I try to nap every Sunday afternoon, and often after work.

My sleep pattern pretty much consists of naps. I usually sleep for an hour or two after school.

I take naps almost every afternoon. I have high energy in the mornings, but pretty much hit a low after lunch. I usually sleep around two hours.

I take naps when I get back from doing things but that's because I go to bed really late & have to get up early(for me) to do things.

I was never really one for naps so I don't take them.

I'm not really a big napper. I haven't taken regular naps since I was 2 or 3 years old. I have tried napping but I can't fall asleep at all unless I have a cold or flu. My NT brother and autistic sister love to nap. My brother likes to take a nap when he gets home from work. My sister will nap on the couch in the afternoon sometimes.
