-ever test your balance?

Just curious, since my old school counsellor used to do this. She would make me stand on one foot, with another in the air, and then vice versa with the other foot. Then I'd sit down and we would begin our sessions.

Wondered if this was the case for anyone else. :?

I had a "guidance counselor" who wanted to expel me because he thought I was crazy.

I was "crazy" because I was obsessed with creating the "tree of the evolution of Man." He caught me drawing those "family trees" one day.

My balance sucked then. I wouldn't have passed the above test.

My high school consular questioned my feelings for Shadow the Hedgehog and was concerned about my outbursts in school to see if I was going to actually kill someone. So I guess balance of my sanity.

I mentioned this to my current therapist, and all she can think of is that it might have been a dyspraxia test.

However, dyspraxia was never mentioned to me so who knows. They never said why they were testing my balance. Might have been ruling it out or something.

Not all people with Asperger's are "clumsy".........

"Dyspraxia" also known as "apraxia," is mostly used in a speech production context.

Well, I did go to three speech therapists, but this was before I went to a school counsellor. I was told that the counsellor was so that I would learn to make "more obvious connections", so as far as I'm aware...the counsellor was not due to the issues with speech I had.

It is possible however that the counsellor had notes on my previous speech issues, and did the test to try and rule it out. But my stutter and stammering had long since gone before I saw the counsellor.

Maybe it could have been a 'mindfulness' or grounding sort of pre-session exercise?
