The search bar ain't very good

Sometimes I like to search the forum by typing something into the Google search bar, like a thread I remember creating or replying to a while ago, but when the results come up it's not what I was looking for.
Once I typed in a thread title that I remembered exactly how it was worded, and you can't get much more specific than that. But it just came up with a load of threads that were nothing to do with what I was looking for, and I knew it was definitely in the GAD.
Sometimes only 1 page of results come up, or the numbers of the next 9 pages might be there but hidden behind an ad box that you can't remove.

Do the search results only show recent threads? Or is it just buggy?

Buggy

I do a regular google search with the words "wrong planet" and the keywords of the old thread I am trying to find.

I think the Active Discussions box is covering the numbers of the pages at the bottom, so I only have like 6 or 7 search results.

It has never worked properly for me over ~6.5yrs

Just to clarify, are you using Google, or the search bar on the site itself?

I'm using the search bar on this site, although I have used Google as well.

Maybe Google would be more effective.
