zappa was a genius and is understood on many levels of IQ strata.

this rendition you posted was a parody of jazz rather than a serious attempt at it.
the caricature of the face (stylized after the scream) shows that the subject is kind of bamboozled, and there are multiple points of flattening of effect to show a mysterious kind of disappointment.
but the overall structure is majestically correct.
the piano is insanely well written.
nobody ever improvised on a frank zappa song.

anyway, it's hard to think of a huge musical structure.
i have not the talent.
it is easy to think of valid musical sentences and to iterate them fervently.
but they are only practice routines because they do not convey any spiritual message at all.

It is tongue in cheek. He has many other examples, but I posted this one because I was listening to it at the time. Also, they improvised a lot on stage.

yes i know. i was not saying he was failing at producing real jazz.
he is so smart that he can go beyond jazz and use jazz as a fundamental foundation of a much more difficult to understand direction.

he let people do their own thing sometimes in high energy live performances who wanted to improvise, but the main complaint most musicians had about zappa was that they had to studiously follow his almost impossible to understand manuscripts.
you can be sure that the piano track and every other aspect of the recording you posted is absolutely from the single pen of zappa.
i am of the impression that zappa was the most intelligent musician of the modern age.
it takes many listenings as well as belief in the song to reveal the genius of it.

many critics who understand his talent lament that he never really did anything serious. it was always some kind of comedic interpretation of life.

anyway, here is a rare song by zappa that was written about slavery and it was heart felt, and this is a brilliant pianists rendition of it.

this is stunning in it's structure.

I find this one, so appealing, and wonder if it is considered to be more in the realm of Neo Soul, as opposed to Jazz. Although, either way, it is Jazz in it's own right.

yeah it is amazing to know how many truly talented people are out there.
i don't need video clips though. they distract me.
but jazz i guess is not really an emotional thing. it is more a mental thing.
but her song does have emotional content i am sure (even though i am blind to it i do see the notes and think "I could never come up with that")
but i don't want to listen to music in a competitive way. i like to allow it to absorb me, but invariably i start thinking of what i would play to it.
bad me. robot me.
i like gospel stuff because i just do. here is another tune i made up. the drums are programmed by me, and i reserve one track always for playing bass.
