There's a lot to be said for that. In Chinese medicine, they use various mixtures of roots/herbs/bark/fungi (and even black ants) and brew it like a tea. Whatever they put in, it always seems to turn out black and horribly bitter (but I think that's how medicine is supposed to taste). Apparently these brews can be very effective.

This morning, it being Monday and me being bleary-eyed and in desperate need, I hit on a wonderful idea for an experiment.
Observation of restlessness (self-reported as "the jitters") about two hours after drinking a certain caffeine-containing brew (said response being independently verified by a colleague), and I conclude my experiment to have been a resounding success.
