Cats and based on a recent documentary I am a bit more impressed by them. I used to think that humans sort of kept cats around to kill house-mice, but actually some kinds of small dogs were bred for that...cats where never viewed as a real pest solution people bred dogs for that. As far as anyone can tell the reason why we have cats is people simply liked the cats hanging around...so they basically took advantage of it. Also they have evolved in regards to people, like typically the meowing is a kitten behavior most cats in the wild do not continue meowing once they become mature...but the domestic cats continue, mostly to communicate with people. I mean I have to admit I generally don't see cats meowing around each other if there is not a human to fight over attention from around or if you're giving 4 cats treats at the same time and they all meow at you.

As far as anyone can tell the reason why we have cats is people simply liked the cats hanging around and the cats stuck around because they were eating the food scraps from the trash well and people have been feeding cats since ancient times. So the cats took advantage of that and people didn't object. Also they have evolved in regards to people, like typically the meowing is a kitten behavior most cats in the wild do not continue meowing once they become mature...but the domestic cats continue, mostly to communicate with people. And of course purring is still not understood...I myself have seen cats purr when they are being affectionate, seem generally happy and if they are scared, my old cat I had for around 14 years sometimes would curl up during thunderstorms and purr to himself I have also heard they sometimes do when they are injured to.

Cats are amazing creatures. I know a lot about them because I've owned them for over 20 years. If you put in an effort to learn about cat body language and behavior, the cats you meet will reward you with great affection and loyalty. :D

Cats, guinea pigs, bunnies, panda bears, tigers, wolves, and mountain lions. :D

It's great how completely non-judgemental our pets are. You can be completely yourself around them. No trying to force you to act "normal" or fit in with society. They don't care about how you dress, or if you're 44, single, have no kids, and own a collection of Monster High dolls. They'll never try to pressure you into smoking, drinking, or eating Tide pods. They'll never ignore you while talking on their stupid cell phone with the world's most obnoxious ringtone or beg you to watch a show or movie just because *they* like it, and practically turn into a creepy stalker until you do.

I wish humans could be more like animals, but I guess we're just too "intelligent".
