https://imgur.com/a/fedmx - People of WP, question- What do you call doing this (look at the link)? You do this with friends, normally. And I'm not sure what it's called. It's some sort of a greeting.

Jeez Louise... that's a dance move. From a dance that dates back to the '60s, I think, but I'm danged if I can remember what it was called.

You did it symmetrically - roll and raise the right hand, then roll and raise the left, and my brain has blown a fuse trying to remember the rest of it.

Just checkin' - it's not the Mississippi, it's not the Missouri Swings, it's not the Biker Shuffle. Just checked all of those on YouTube. Dang if I can remember what it is! But it's definitely part of a dance. One I used to do, more's the pity.

(Edit in: not part of the Frug or the Funky Chicken, either, from what I can find.)

You mean that two folks do that with each other as a greeting? Like a cross between a knuckle bump, and hi five? You place your fist on top of the other person's fist, and then place theirs on yours, and so on?

Don't know what it's called. I would dub it "the rope climb" if naming it were up to me.

Giving dap. ...I felt awkward about doing that when I was younger, so I had to sometimes push myself to do it so as not to offend.

The term is not to be confused with the more recent term dab.

It's a variant of fist bump which we might call "The Hammer."

Notice its similarity to "The Railroad" fist bump below.

I would call it spudding , you hold out your hand and say 'spud me' , it's basically a fist bump but I thinking spudding came from a childrens counting game called 1 potatoe , 2 potatoe ( potatoes are know as spuds in the UK )

But you have "jacket potatoes," not "jacket spuds."

I think spuds is the uncooked version , a spud gun wouldn't work with a jacket potatoe as ammo

As a potato, I'm not sure how I feel about this turn of events.

I don't know. It looks like the sign language word "make" combined with the basketball referee signal for traveling. My guess is "make traveling" or "let's go".
