I really struggled to follow what was going on until it actually said even though I was looking out for it. It was too many people to watch at the same time, I didn't even notice that there were only a few women. I have a horrible feeling I would be even worse in real life.

This is not surprising. It seems there is a tradition of social justice in India. For example, thieves caught stealing in public are often beaten by the crowd. But a lot of the street harassment against women is too subtle for men to notice or disapprove of, or quick because she distances herself from the harasser.
