How wonderful for both of us. :D

I have a beloved nephew your age - we were best pals - but he grew up and went away.

Why don't you come up here and be and excellent influence on me?

You are a lady of Mellifluous substance, and would be most glad for your company.

My social worker told me to talk to him about it and I did. He listened without interrupting. He was surprised. Oh, in the middle of my talking, he said, "This is the house that Jack built." That was charming. Sort of defused things.

Then he said his bit, which was that I must never think that he held derogatory opinions of me; he's just not made like that.

Yesterday he brought me a big Canary Melon, and took it back to his place to cut it open, and it was delicious.

How can anybody have a derogatory opinion of Claradoon?

I'm glad you got things settled with the guy.

I'll have to research "canary melon."

Claradoon has a pretty bad opinion of Claradoon.

Here's Canary Melon

This morning, because she got a refund on her tax, my estranged sister sent me $65. I had only $1.53 to get through the month. I can't stop sobbing but if I do, I'll order food.

I hope it's getting warmer in Montreal.

It's supposed to go up to 15 Celsius (or a little above) tomorrow in NYC.

I wish I could hug you, Claradoon, so you don't cry.

Aretha Franklin did a song called "The House that Jack Built."

There was a show in Canada called "Let's Go." For a time, the Guess Who was the house band. Do you remember it?

It's supposed to be warmer all week.

There's a geography problem with the hug.

Geez, I know not why I am so sad! (That's a riff
of the beginning of Merchant of Venice. It's
Antonio speaking. I think he starts with 'In sooth'.)

I just realized that Sis knows I'm Claradoon, and
she used it once to track me down. Given the
extraordinary timing of her $65 gift (it's not a loan!)
- I wonder if she tracked me again and read all this.
Ack!

I don't know Aretha's House but I see the title's been used a lot, including horror cinema (Jack's a serial killer).

I know the Guess Who. If you can get CJAD at 11pm weeknights,
http://streema.com/radios/play/8003
you'll hear Joey Elias who played with them. These days he's still doing everything, especially comedy.

This is Joey with Justin, in response to the people who wanted to forbid all ethnic wear:

I think this is the original nursery rhyme of Jack's House.
It goes sort of like the 12 Days of Christmas, repeating all the lines and adding one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the house that Jack built.
This is the house that Jack built.
This is the malt
This is the house that Jack built.
This is the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
... and so on ...
This is the farmer sowing his corn,
That kept the cock that crow'd in the morn,
That waked the priest all shaven and shorn,
That married the man all tatter'd and torn,
That kissed the maiden all forlorn,
That milk'd the cow with the crumpled horn,
That tossed the dog,
That worried the cat,
That killed the rat,
That ate the malt
That lay in the house that Jack built.
(Clapping hands and giggling optional)
