Is it just me or does anybody else hate trap music and mainstream hip hop/rap music? I personally hate it because the beats sound kinda weird, and the rap techniques are very dull, and there are virtually little to no "lyrics" in the songs. There is also no scratching, which along with b-boying, and maybe graffiti, is one of the things that basically makes hip hop the way it should be. Without it, which is the case with these genres right now, it just sounds like total f*****g mess!

What our your opinions on the subject? Do you hate or like modern hip hop/rap and trap music?

I find trap really irritating to the point it becomes tedium to listen to.

Rap/trap is so weird nowadays because they've taken so many other genres and mashed them up. Taking some influence from rock, dance, d&b, even afrobeats and dancehall

I think it's very 'millenial' tbh. Like I can see why guys like my little brother listen to it. Here in the UK it's helped some guys get a platform, especially the ones who were too different from grime

ehhh.....it's a mixed bag, as is everything else. (what isn't?)

i agree that it often sounds unstructured, and i noticed too much sounds samey, uninspired and derivative which clearly isn't the most creative path, but it's familiar and more importantly, profitable. i think this is mostly a pattern with popular music of all eras, artists want to make a tune that people will remember and we've become increasingly efficient at it.

i don't care for the mumbled lyrics, even when i do manage to understand them but i find it good background music for driving. something about it just blends in so well with cruising down the street with the sunroof open at night.

lately i've been listening to this on repeat, it was on the radio constantly around 2009 and i remember being sick of it at the time but it's grown on me. kind of on a 2000s nostalgia wave in general rn.

I don't like trap, but Hopsin is 'modern' and quite talented.

it is hard to perform rap on a pedal harp or a Wurlitzer theatrical organ.

If you REALLY want to annoy a trap rapper, point out that their famed "triplet flow" was pioneered by.... Gilbert & Sullivan.

I enjoy it sometimes. Mainly when I want to listen to something, but don’t want to think about it too much. It’s mainly ambient/background music for me. I definitely get tired of it and can’t really say I have a favorite trap song or artist.

I like 2000s trap like Three 6 Mafia, TI, and Jeezy. But new school trap is terrible. Only new school trap I like is trap metal, ASAP Rocky, Travis Scott, Ski Mask the Slump God, Trippie Redd, and Juice WRLD
