Are female nipples honestly that "bad" to be shown?

I always wonder why a lot of people seem to be pointlessly scared of a woman's nipple. Like seriously, why can't we just get over this BS issue and move on to more important things that we need to solve, instead of just worrying about something that is so small and natural for both men and women to have on their body?! That would be the equivalent of saying that our eyes are inappropriate, and that we would have to put a bag over our heads with very little eye holes so that we could see what we were doing. Well, maybe not that bad, but still, I think you get the point.

Does anybody else here feel the same way?

From the inquisitive poster,

They are beautiful. They are enticing. They are lovely.

They are abundantly shown in non-US cultures. We are a bit more puritanical in some ways than Europeans.

TBH I think female nipples are incredibly ugly. Sticking out like a couple of cancerous growths, with the skin around them all wrinkly and pimply-looking. Seeing them showing through a top or bathing suit is humiliating and looks disgusting. I even once heard that some women are having their nipples surgically removed. Naturally this is highly controversial, but I don't blame them. What's the point of even having them unless you have infants to breastfeed?

In fact our lower "private parts", male and female, are gross and hideous as well. They may not be dirty, but they sure aren't clean, either. You pee out of them for crying out loud! All hairy and wrinkly and foul-smelling and oozing, looking like something out of a sci-fi alien movie. And people are touching each other with these things! No wonder people get STDs.

You know, I'm lucky I can even stand the sight of myself naked. But that's just how I am. If other people think it's abnormal it's only because it's not *their* normal.

People's genitals aren't any more "dirty" or "clean" than any other part of a person's body.

I feel a sort of detached fascination with the anatomy of women's genitals----plus a erotic attraction when I'm attracted to the person who bears them.

All people have to do is keep themselves clean. Not obsessively clean, not smelling like Lysol or something. Just naturally clean.

Nipples that protrude can't help but draw attention to themselves.
This may make the person uncomfortable with the attention that might be drawn to that part of their body.
Personally, I would leave that up to the individual to decide. I do not think anyone should be pressured to reveal or cover to suit anyone else's preferences. At the same time, the person who wishes to let their nipples show more must not be harsh when someone's attention is diverted towards them as long as that looking person is not being otherwise rude.
I think no matter how free the society became, certain people will be distracted by this given our inherent nature.
The question for the poster is are you ok with nipples from a 90 year old woman, 60 year old man, children of either sex etc., as well as the 20 somethings? Is this a nipple thing or a sexuality thing?

Women's breasts have been sexualised even though they are not sexual parts the censorship of them is a bit weird considering there are men out there who are into feet but we don't censor feet.

I agree with this. I have no need to see any of those things at all and very much prefer not to. I don't care if it makes me puritanical or a prude. I find it gross and think we see too much of it as it is.

I even think too much public display of affection is gross. I once had the displeasure of being on a crammed subway with a teenage couple standing right in front of me sucking each other's tongues. It felt like I was the (unwilling) part of a threesome! How hard is it to wait until you get off the dang subway and are no longer almost standing on someone else's toes?! Gross!

No nudity has no place outside outside of your own home - and personally just in the shower at that - or at the doctor's if that is needed for the examination.

It's not just women either. It's gross when men wear nothing above the waist just because it's hot. Clothes exist to be used. No one wants to see or involuntarily touch the lack thereof.

First time I saw a man in overall pants and nothing else on a pick up truck, I went home to my grandparents to complain about it. I was 8. I like it no better now!

It's all a matter of personal choice, really.

I'm "puritanical" about certain things, too.

I'm a bum, leg and breast man myself...
Oh, hell...give me the whole kit and caboodle...

Nipples are the cherry on the cake...
Mmmmmm...Cherries... D'oh!

Yes...Armerikans are notorious for being prudish...
Though their porn industry is quite extensive, indeed...
Errr...not that I would know about such things myself...

One possible solution...
And I have been thinking about this literally for a thousand years...
Why don't the censors simply paste pictures of male nipples on naked female breasts?
They are, after all, totally useless for anything else...

I remember seeing a woman's breasts and nipples for the first time on TV at about the age of 12. It was a sketch on Monty Python. I've been a big fan of the comedy troupe ever since!

Umm people get STDs if they have unprotected sex with someone who happens to carry one, not just from ever having sex. The way those body parts look have nothing to do with it.

I thought I had body issues... 8O
I am not saying your opinion is wrong, though I have never in my life come across something like this...
Almost all men wouldn't have a problem with female nipples...
Most men would be aroused by them...<shrug>

A male penis is a very odd looking thing but it doesn't stop the procreation imperative...

I had such a good long laugh about this...
Thanks for that...lol

Whatever floats your boat...
Or doesn't...
Am I being taken for a ride?
If so, it is a good one...<chuckle>

This whole "breast aren't really a sexual organ, they've just been needlessly sexualized by society" malarkey really needs to stop. Breasts aren't reproductive organs, sure, but they're secondary sexual characteristics, and have been so since humans started walking upright. There's a reason why human females have permanently engorged breasts, as opposed to other great apes, who only have them while actually breastfeeding. Not to mention that a womans breasts can swell by as much as 25% when she's aroused. Yes, their primary purpose is feeding an infant; their secondary purpose is to attract male attention.

As for the topic, I don't think disgust would be the priimary reaction if a woman was to walk around downtown topless. At least not from men.
