I read here the topic about Emotional Attachments To Objects. I am not sure how much it relates, so I'd rather create new topic.

My father was never diagnosed, but I think, that he has AS too.

One from his problems is the accumulation of things. I read about Diogenes syndrome, this is good description this his problem. I am not sure, why, if cause is that we didn't have much money, we were poor. Or if he is emotionally attached to objects too much or if exists other explanation. Now it's better because he has limited sources, but it wasn't always so.

May be a connection between ASD and Diogenes syndrome?

I don't think these are found together except by chance. The overall tonnage of my hoard is lower than average hereabouts, but it does include many scraps. These I keep roughly sorted as raw material for odd jobs, and it does pay off. I have a friend who is struggling with a large collection of things he considers too good to landfill, but can't sell. Junk collectors and dealers are among the best enablers of technology, but they seldom get rich.
