It is about choice. America has decided that to sacrifice people for second amendment rights. America has decided to sacrifice privacy and constitutional rights for convenience and anti terrorism.. America has decided to accept far greater carnage then people with guns cause for the convenience of automobiles. There is no such thing as no risk, no collateral, damage. Even the best political decisions that help 98 percent of the people will unfairly screw somebody over.

Annual United States Road Crash Statistics

Quote:
Over 37,000 people die in road crashes each year

An additional 2.35 million are injured or disabled

Over 1,600 children under 15 years of age die each year

Nearly 8,000 people are killed in crashes involving drivers ages 16-20

Road crashes cost the U.S. $230.6 billion per year, or an average of $820 per person

These statistics do not take into consideration road rage, pollution and environmental damage and displacement of people and destruction of neighboorhoods.

In some cases those hearts will have to evolve from having three chambers to having four.

Precisely. Both people and objects can be manipulated so both people and objects can be used as tools.

ISIS is crashing trucks into crowds of people, getting out, and stabbing them with knives.

Guns do not kill people.

Yeah. ISIS probably doesn't even have any guns.

[quote="Esmerelda Weatherwax"]Stephen Paddock fired over 1000 rounds, in a ten minute period, from his hotel window in Las Vegas. This injured over 800 people and killed more than 50, at the country music concert nearby.

Yesterday's school shooter killed 17.

Let's dispense with the disingenuous pretense that guns are merely precision metalsmithed artworks for the discerning collector. Symbols of precious freedom.

Guns are weapons, intended for one and only one use. To kill.

And the guns currently favored by our Messrs. Paddock and Cruz and their emulators are specifically designed to kill as many people as possible, as rapidly as possible. That is their entire purpose.

Gun rights advocates need to stop carrying on about how people can choke to death on tapioca pudding, or trip over their own shoelaces and fall and break their necks, and nobody wants to outlaw tapioca or shoelaces do they?

Because if the tapioca is poisoned, or the shoelaces are deliberately replaced with razor wire, you bet your butt that's outlawed. And that's what it would take to make either one even remotely as murderous-by-d

Hey, gun advocates are all about personal freedom and liberty. It's not like they're being manipulated by corporations or anything

At least trucks and knives are useful for what they were intended for. Guns were created for one purpose and one purpose only.

We have automobiles that are created for war. We have knives and swords that are created for killing humans (especially in this house).

I feel like most average American gun owners have them for hunting and maybe one or two for protection.

There are many sides to every argument. I doubt anything will change any time soon. Even if they made guns completely illegal, most criminals do not obtain their firearms by legal means.
