Hi all!

I'm new here and historically have had a very hard time keeping up with this form of communication, so we'll see how it goes! I've joined Wrong Planet now because I really feel I need to talk to other Auties on a more regular basis.
My sibling is also autistic, so even though I also learned to "pass" and experienced a lot of internalized ableism, it also felt very natural. We could always just be ourselves with each other, you know? But I'm an adult now and have moved to a different city as most of my family, so I don't have anyone to simply be Autistic with. This has become an issue as I work with young children and have to deal with ableist conceptions about child development and autism a lot. I have had a lot of arguments about ABA in the last year, and I just really need some autistic friends...

I have to deal with parents of autistic children and find it very difficult to do, so I sympathize with that situation. Tell us more about it?

I think I feel the same way? I’ve had the same friends for so long and I don’t know if they really know who I am. I’m always scared of being picked on as well? They’re good friends! I think I make it harder than it needs to be.
