My aspie friend is telling me about a woman who treats him poorly. He's stuck on her for years. He actually believes she loves him when there is no evidence of it. She comes in and out of his life without explanation. He can't move on. Is there a way to help him?

I would have to know more about the situation.

Why does he believe she loves him?

What does she actually do to him?

Yes, it is difficult to tell any person to "move on" from somebody the person loves. The only way to do it is to try to encourage him to think objectively.

He said she hinted at the fact that she loves him. I have no idea what that means. Additionally, said she lied about many big things in her life. She talks to him for a while, then refuses to talk to him for a few months with no explanation. He's been going through this for a few years. She also won't meet him in person. He has said unpleasant things about her character, and begs her to answer his calls when she refuses to talk.

She might not be a bad person—but she certainly wouldn’t be good for me.

Sounds like sort of a weird relationship.

I would encourage him to seek someone who wants to spend lots of time with him.
