I do. I found it all but impossible when I first started, but now I'm hooked.

I was totally obsessed for the first couple of years... would do Sudoku for hours on end. Now it's under control. :)

Despite the Japanese name, I have read that Sudoku was originally invented by a Swiss mathematician in the 1700's, and he called them "Magic Squares":

It's not a numeric puzzle; the numbers are just place markers. You could use letters (some do) or pictures of kittens, so long as the same one doesn't appear twice in a square, row or column.

Logic puzzles in general were my most recent obsession - I don't mind sudoku but prefer things like masyu, slitherlink, futoshiki and nurikabe. Sadly, these are hard to find and my main source has gone out of print. This is kind of a blessing as I've got more time to use my brain for more productive stuff. But I do miss my puzzles at times when I just need to relax my brain for a bit.

You're welcome :) If I'd known anyone was interested, I'd have also mentioned hashiwokakero, heyawake, akari, hitori, kakuro, battleships, sudoku 16x16, killer sudoku/addoku/sumdoku and all the pictorial logic puzzles under the various names they go by (hanjie/pick-a-pix/nonogram/tsunami/paint-by-numbers, fill-a-pix/mosaic, link-a-pix, maze-a-pix).

Anyone who likes japanese-style logic puzzles might find the following sites interesting:

Like Claradoon I have a Sudoku game on my cellphone: Excellent past-time whilst waiting for or riding on the bus, taking a "long term" on the loo, waiting in a long line etc. The version I got even allows for "penciling in" miniature numbers as "candidates" for a particular square -- pretty handy for the tough levels...

Not very good at them, but still, an addict. :)
