I did it recently to solve a problem involving a penny game. It was so that I could figure out a strategy to win the penny game every time you play.
Is the penny game a reference to a specific game that properly exists, or something you made yourself?
One of my weirdest hobbies as a kid was making up rules for games (theoretically multiplayer, but I always played every side) using loose change, then finding the most efficient way to play them. Up till about the age of 8 everyone thought it was a healthy sign of an active young mind (or whatever the pseudo-power words of the time were), and then suddenly it was considered strange and unhealthy, so I stopped letting people know I invented my own games.
