I found that the higher I went in the educational ladder, the easier time I had of it. I just loved grad school - it was pretty much self-directed, with courses in which I had a substantial interest, and entailing a lot of individual research. Almost all my classes were small (under 10 people) and we ran by Socratic method - we had all read the material and we would argue points, or we would present our own research findings. It really was a lot of fun - some of the happiest days I've ever known.

My undergrad - well, it wasn't difficult. If anything, most of the courses were pretty watered down and basic. I found it most painful to sit in a room for a couple of hours a few times a week while somebody at the other end of a large auditorium basically read me his notes or paraphrased the textbook. In some of those classes I was able to just buy the notes and show up for tests - those were ok.

High school. Oh, now that was dreadful. They treated us like idiots, fed us an unbelievably watered-down (often out of date, and occasionally inaccurate) curriculum, and I was in a room with all abilities - meaning the really slow or those who didn't want to learn pulled us all down. Then again, I also had some teachers who were, I swear, only a chapter ahead of us in the textbook. They had degrees in education, so they theoretically knew how to teach, but were just a hair above functionally illiterate themselves. I do have to say, though, that I had three or four really outstanding high school teachers. They broke every curriculum rule there was, were really tough, and I learned a tremendous amount from them. Too bad they all couldn't have been like that. I have the utmost sympathy for any kid in high school, as I understand it's gotten much worse nowadays. So sad - a waste of time and talent.

Being a teenager with Asperger's is pretty much living "Lord Of The Lives" as "Groundhog Day" every day.

I have watched both of my teen sons with AS work far harder than the other kids to get where they are. The one without AS has it so much easier because he is so social. I really wouldn't want to be a teenager in this day and age.

EDIT: I can spell, really!

It's ok, very few other people can, so you won't get caught.

You make me homesick :(
Why don't they bottle Fox water so I could buy it on eBay?

I am too shy to say what education I have past a BS in fruit and nuts, minor in chem and ADN nursing. Now a year into electician apprentice. :D
Working mostly with men in a field that attracts some of our natives is fun.

I loved that little spring with it's little bridge and HUGE stalagmite of ice!

I wasn't too crazy about the folks with 50 1 gallon milk jugs to fill, but hey, we all wanted the best water there is... right? :P

Our water was so full of iron, I'd chip a tooth just trying to drink a glass of the stuff! 8O
That little ole artesian well was the only place I liked to get water at.

We should start a thread for anyone who has lived in Alaska! :D

I sort of have a 5th grade education, as I mostly went to homeroom only in Middle School, where the attendance was taken with homework. Then it was accidently discovered that I could and should test out of High School. I did with a high enough Regents score, that I didn't have to take my SAT's. When my Mom got sick, I dropped out my first semester at the University. Then I followed my passion for things that soar, by going in the US Air Force instead. But I had to wait until I was 18 years old, because my parents wouldn't sign for me as a minor. I have some college, vocational skills, but no degree.

Two Bachelor's Degrees, one in Archaeology and the other in Cultural Geography with a minor in European History.

A Master's Degree in History, with a European History major and two minors, one in Public History and the other in Intellectual History.

I want to go for my doctorate in European Historical Geography, with a particular emphasis on France and Germany.

I have the equivalent of an Associate degree in Electronic Technology, but most of what I know
comes from 25 years of work experience.

Cool! I did my Masters in Public History specialising in heritage management!

I've also got two Bachelor's Degrees: one with first class honours in history and the other a pass commerce degree majoring in economics.
