I painted this in my adv. art class over the past few weeks since the start of second semester. I titled it "self portrait" because it portrays not only me as I am physically, but me as my mind is, and as I feel.

I have a weird thing happen that I can only describe to be like what folks call "phantom limb". An amputee's mind is so used to a limb being there that they still feel that limb's presence. It's the same with my "combine form". My mind says it's there, so I feel and sense it as if it were.

I can't be the only one out there who experiences things like this, or feels like this. Anybody else have similar experiences? Please share them.

I feel sometimes that I'm repeating my life over and I'll get de javu (sorry for spelling) when I'm in a new situation. I'm not sure if that's exactly what you meant, but I hope I helped.

I like that painting, but I can't exactly relate to what you describe . . . Throughout my life, I have often felt like an animal. However, I would not compare it to the experience of a phantom limb.

The shadow figure in front of the train, it looks like/resembles those wind boats they have in swampy areas.

I love the painting-you're very talented.

If I could critizize, without the lettering I think that piece would bring you a fist full of cash.

my avatar is how I feel sometimes...it's good to express yourself artistically.

A machine?

I think if there was an after life, I would be an earth faerie. I'm both mystical and down to earth (I think :P)

Pretty cool painting. I wish I had some artistic talent. I guess my mechanical talent will have to do.

I will sometimes have times when I imagine things very vividly. (Sorta like a video game in my head) but I won't be able to turn one way or do something. E.g. I will imagine walking down a street, get to an intersection and want to turn right, but in spite the fact I'm telling my imagination to let me, I don't seem to turn, and cannot go that way. It's like a thought block.

A similar thing happens when I imagine people, and they will start doing something I didn't think up and no matter how much I try to force my imagination to stop, that movment (It is never speech) will be repeated over and over. E.g. I imagine a person, and they begin sticking out their tounge then go back to the original position, then stick out their tounge again and repeat the action over and over, like a scratched DVD playing.

I like the Evanescence quote and I identify myself more with a cat than human. I don't feel human. I feel...hey...like I'm on the wrong freaking planet!

It's not a phantom limb thing, more like a feeling that I got mixed up in the creation process and got splinched with a few other species to create something new that took on the wrong form.
