The thing is, while it's great to strive for success, at a certain point, crying over not being the best is silly. Sure, let's say you make the best grades in the school. All of the sudden, you're in college and you're with students that did much better grades. Then you're in grad school, and they'll be college students with much better grades, and so on and so on.
It's called being a big fish in a small pond. You can be the best within a small group like a school, but in the big scheme of things, there are others much better. Just do your best, and for God's sake, don't cry over grades.
