Firefox - Been using it for over 3 years or so now
Pidgin - I have it installed but I hardly use it because I mainly use MSN. (MSN's file transfers go slow on Pidgin)
The Gimp - I actually just downloaded this a couple weeks ago and I like it so far. It makes way more sense to use this than to buy Photoshop for $1000.
If you guys want some good software recommendations these are essential:
Openoffice - Free office suite. It makes more sense to use this than Microsoft Word.
Foobar2000 - Awesome music player. It's especially good if you have a large collection of lossless music. It is also good for converting music formats.
