I like the artwork (I like fields of grass).

I assume they mean profoundly autistic individuals that don't really interact with family members [as a child]; they're thinking of themselves and the social interaction they desire.

Yeah, they mean they believe(or want OTHERS to believe) that the autistic person has a good mind, or a good potential for one, and they merely can't interface with the outside world. The idea of a prison gets the idea accross in a clear way while causing you to have sympathy.

Now that's just f*cking offensive. I am not "trapped within the prison of my mind."

Thats certainly a better way of puting it. Have you ever had the feeling you are only communicating and understanding so much in a social context?

My mind isn't a prison. It's a luxurious vacation spot. When things are too stressful, I go there quite willingly to get away from it all.

Neither am I. I have the most freest mind of everyone that I know.

Well thats the plus side. I never regarded my mind as a prison either i may add. So i presume you have no difficulty in understanding other peoples actions and making your feelings known?

I bet you that all the people at Autism Speaks are each reading a copy, right now and believing every single word.

That's just what people say if they find no way to communicate with you that they can comprehend.

And if you find no way to make them communicate with you.

Because, for whatever reason, when they do not see communication, it must be non-existent. As if they're the end of all means and as knowledgeable as a God.

I admit, when I was really small, I concluded other people must be unintelligent and disconnected from the 'real world'. I had trouble to communicate with them and to recognise their actions as based on logic and intelligence. Of course, at the same time it made sense to them as they saw things differently from me.

That's why I believe it must be about the same way turned upside down for the people who say autistic people are trapped in their minds.

They just don't see how an autistic person connects to something or someone. And then they find no way to connect back of course.

Oh, my mind is not like a prison either.

My mind is certainly like Ireland, if all other people are in for example India. It is like an interesting and very foreign holiday resort.

The people who're lamenting at the imagery and applying themselves to it: how many of you are diagnosed with Autistic Disorder, and how many of you were and are socially unresponsive to people as a child, and perhaps as an adult (the latter is rare, the former is common)?

A mother whose son doesn't interact with her (other than pure mechanical interaction), doesn't show her affection, and will most likely be reliant on her for much of his life; do you not see how this mother could be upset?

It doesn't say "Asperger's" (children with Asperger's interact well with their family, and show affection in the majority of cases).
