Hiya folks, I wonder if we could somehow compile a list of GOOD clinicians that we have in the world! Seems to me that NOONE knows who to go to and who not to.

Consultant Psychiatrists??? Which ones know the difference between Manic Depression and ADHD? Which ones know the WHOLE spectrum INCLUDING ADHD??

Because from where I am sitting it is a lottery.

Who is going to see WHOM?? Community Paediatrician? Developmental Paediatrician, Clinical Pscyhologist? Chartered Pscychologist or maybe Educational Pscychologist?? And the list goes ON AND ON AND ON!

I have just had 3 of my mums in tears because they went to see a COMMUNITY PAEDIATRICIAN who has the grand title of NEURODISABILITY LEAD?? Posh name for a CHILD PROTECTION EXPERT!!

So WHO ARE THE goodies and who are the not so goodies!! !

I can name a few in the UK OF THE GOOD GUYS!

Noone knows WHO TO SEE, who they have been referred to or what the diagnosis is if any??

THAT IS WHAT IT IS LIKE HERE IN THE UK. WHAT IS IT LIKE WHERE YOU ARE???

My friend went 300miles to see a specialist and got told he could not diagnose as he was not a specialist in what she needed.........................ADHD!! ! GGGGGrrrrrrrrr

My 19yr old has just been diagnosed by a paediatrician because the Consultant Adult Psychiatrist REFUSED!! !! !

SO A LIST OF EACH COUNTRY'S PRACTITIONERS WOULD BE GOOD EH??? certainly for the UK ANYWAY!! !

Your comments would be very welcome!
I will start off if you like!!

Dr Brian Toone London..................... ADULT ADHD brilliant guy but has huge waiting list

Thanks ster, where abouts are you??

I have been googling all day today to see if there is a LIST anywhere of any specialists and WHAT they specialise in?

If you have a bladder problem you google urologists but if you google asc YOU GET ?

Seems to me there is a huge gap and we need to know WHO TO SEE and what they do, what they have done in the area of ASC and for how long. In my opinion it is NOT the paper qualifications it is the EXPERIENCE. Unless you live ASC you cannot possibly understand it properly.

I can tell the doctors an awful lot more than they appear to know? How's that then? Seems that my lowly nursing experience and qualifications count for little. But we need to know WHO DIAGNOSES what and where! DON'T WE????

Anyone else agree or am I about to get some custard pies thrown in my face! Be gentle!!

Well if you're in North Carolina (or anywhere on the east coast) then TEACCH is your best bet for an accurate diagnosis. They do free diagnosis for any native North Carolinians and $2000 for those out of state, and they do child and adult diagnosis's. They specialize in the autism spectrum so I don't think they'd be able to diagnose ADHD, but I can't say for sure. They do have a LONG wait so if you're in NC and want a diagnosis sooner, try picking from the list at http://www.autismsociety-nc.org/ they can send you a list of people who diagnose (but they're mostly for childhood autism).
