Yes I walk very fast, and people comment on it quite a bit. I enjoy it though, walking is a good release.

Let me clarify. While I don't speed walk, I don't dawdle either. I have a very steady pace. But if I move too fast, either I trip or my ankle decides to go down on me. Lovely hypermobility + 7 years of marching band = very sad joints.

Yes very. Why does everyone walk so friggin slow??? I actually went to a shopping mall yesterday. Not my favorite place to be, but the weather was so nice I figured everyone would be at the beach. I was amazed by how slow people walk or move in general.....I constantly have to meander around the slow ones.....slow people are really upsetting to me actually.....unless of course they have a reason to be walking slow.....like they are walking with a cane.....holding the hand of a very small child....or 8 months pregnant and waddling.....

i'm starting to figure this out. when i'm under a lot of stress, have some thoughts run through my head or i'm in a crowd, sometimes, i'll walk faster than the pace i'm at. this has nothing to do with exercise (although i'm in pretty good health and i'm with a health gym), there are times when my mind gets all worked up over something and i start to walk faster. the one part of this is i'm not paying attention to what's going on around me and that's scary. i'm learning to slow down the thoughts.

My 12 year old son always walks fast, I have to practically run sometimes to keep up with him and his stamina never stops. He is on the go 100mile and hour from the minute he wakes till the minute he sleeps.

I've got a question for my fellow fast walkers. Do your arms swing? Mine don't. I prefer to clasp them in front of me, but I've been told I look like a retard doing that. Now I have a sling over my shoulder, and I can grab that without looking too out of sorts.

Yes. Six inches to the front, and three to the rear, if I'm in a hurry. It's easier to develop the habit of swinging your arms if you also make it a habit to lean back. It might feel artificial at first, but it's actually the way your spine is supposed to be. A posture that's closer to the fetal position is an inefficient way to walk, it looks sloppy, and it's terrible for your back. :o

Fascinating. I'd never realized this quirk of mine was yet another so common among those with the same diagnosis.

I actually often find myself frustrated with how short my stride is and have to fight breaking into a slight jog.

I walk faster than most people too, although not as fast as I did when I was a younger. I made my regular pace slower since people complained about me leaving others behind all the time.

Mine and a few other aspie's I know don't swing at all naturally. It might be related to the syndrome. I try to swing them a bit so I won't stand out, though.

I walk very quickly. I went to a really big high school back in my freshman year and we only had seven minutes to get to the opposite end of the building, which was over a million square feet. Since then, walking quickly has never been a problem.
